(B. Ledford, 2009-10-30) I was worried that the condition of the DVD would not be as stated, but it was better that expected.

(Rob, 2009-10-08) They should actually invent a new party beverage called "Pete's Dragon" cause this story blooms from the pub of the main town off a rocky shore with a wonderful lighthouse. It took me awhile to warm up to this musical (what, 30 years??), and I don't mind saying I was still a skeptic. Finally I layed on my couch and gave it my full attention with no distractions, and even backtracked a little when I had to take a quick "break." I was determined to watch every frame. Bottom line, you know it's a heartwarming, YES, loveable film when the ending credits roll, and you hate to leave this place. That ending pan shot from the sky, as if riding away with Elliot made me think, I am going to miss the inside of that lighthouse. Fortunitely, I can see it again with the dvd. Helen Reddy's "Candle On The Water" was nominated for best song, and it's a lovely ballad about someone who has lost a great love, and unfortunitely, is somehow waiting for his return, even in the wake of hoplessness. She sings it on the rim on top of the lighthouse at night. You know, I thought this flick was going to be another Popeye musical, which is a movie you either liked or absolutely hated. I sort of like it, but I could see why Popeye was crucified during it's day. This movie almost ventures in that direction, but manages to keep afloat in the high tide of entertainment. If you really follow the story, and relish in some of the goofiness, this movie will become heartfelt. By the way, the two hammy villains remind me of Honest John and his pal Gideon of Pinocchio, and Shelly Winters looks like she's having a wonderful time playing that filthy hillbilly role of hers. Now I need a beer (and I don't drink).

(D. M. THOMAS, 2009-09-03) What a shame that people take time to write stupid reviews lowering the stars because they got poor delivery from a dealer. This is not the place to complain about poor delivery or any other gripe. This is time to praise Disney for releasing the first movie my little girl saw when it was first released IN 1977. Boo to those who think this was a dud. My daughter has always loved this movie even today at the age of 36 it is still a favorite. Disney has been beaten up by people who still think the studio has the artists who gave us SNOW WHITE. Times have changed people....some of the old magic may be gone, but a new magic is being created today. I praise those artists who back in 1977 tried their best to bring the 70's youngsters something no other studio was producing. Even the worst of Disney is better then some of the best of the other studios.

(J. Nathan Allred, 2009-06-01) It was filthy dirty. No matter how many times we cleaned the heads, it never had a clear picture and wasted the cleaning tape where you are supposed to use it 100 times before you throw it away.
