(B. Lockhart, 2009-12-20) Let's begin with the facts. I'm a hardcore fan. My first exposure to NY was back in '70 thru CSNY and then 'Harvest'. At that time, I felt like a latecomer as I had to backtrack to hear 'Everybody Knows This is Nowhere', 'After the Gold Rush', and his first album along with all the Buffalo Springfield material. My first vinyl purchase was 'Time Fades Away', which is still my favorite album. I like ragged Crazy Horse Neil much more than 'Harvest' style Neil. One of the AUDIO tests for this box set was to see if it lived up to the sonic quality of pure vinyl of Crazy Horse punching out 'Down By the River' and 'Cowgirl in the Sand'. Hearing the Horse unleashed back in the day was momentous and I still hope to see/hear them play together again even it's a geriatric horse...Anyway, I had already heard great digital (Sound DOES MATTER for NY) versions of these on his 'saturated audio' releases. I even have all his DVD-A releases and bought a specific DVD player by Pioneer to truly enjoy the upgraded sound from crappy CDs. The DVD-A releases were satisfying and almost matched analog glory. I wondered if Blu-Ray would finally rival it. I had to wait until the players reached a price point I could feel happy with. This month a good BD-Live player did. I bought a Samsung unit, upgraded to a Vizio HDTV, and then finally got this amazing box a few days ago. The wait was worth it. The sound on DBTR and Cowgirl is amazingly great. I have still to do an actual A/B testing with the original vinyl (I might have to buy one of the vinyl NYAS albums for a true test as my original copy, though in decent condition, can't match the new German pressings). But just the SOUND of these blu-ray discs is fantastic. I'm sure the DVD and CD releases are fine. Even the mp3 files that came with this do the trick for loading up your iPod and hitting the road if only for the sheer convenience. As more than an encyclopedia has been written on everything else in this box, I won't go down that path. I just wanted to concentrate the audio for now. The rest of the box with its multimedia approach is extraordinary for a true fan. If you're a newcomer, go buy his latest 'Greatest Hits' in its best saturated audio version and play it on a good audio system. Or better yet invest in one of the new vinyl releases, which I plan to do soon, and listen to it on a great 'legacy' stereo. You won't be disappointed. If you're lucky, you'll get what all the hype has been about and take that long NY journey through the past all the while enjoying whatever Neil's muse tells him to release in the future. Happy NY Holidays to you all.

(A. Jones, 2009-12-08) This is totally awesome. Sound quality is superb. Get the Blu Ray edition because you can then get extra updates for as long as they give them. This is only available on the blu ray version. Plus w/ blu ray you can then get the album in mp3 format for free too. Yea there are some things I already bought but the sound of the blu ray is better. If you're a Neil fan, then this is a must have. If not, then you can't go wrong buying this, but I'd buy Decade first to get a feel if you like him or not. I can't wait for Vol. II.

(William K. Mccormick, 2009-12-02) I am Dislexic So my Spelling is the pits. when I saw I could make a video review I thought that would be allot better. I can express myself better this way. I am not getting paid nore am I looking for that. I just figutred I could get the amazon people interested in a review to check out mine on You Tub. I have reviewd about 35 concerts so far. This one from Neil is not right thoue. we should NOT have to look at a Record player or tape deck while the music plays. I put on the first 2 or 3 DVDs and saw only that. I then went to the very last DVD and saw only that. Apprently some where inbetween there is a small amoute of him on stage, BUT if we are buying DVD we except to see the artest live in concert from start to finish. This set would be great as a CD set that you just play NOT watch! Sorry If I upset you just trying to let as many people as posible know that they can check out my view of concerts that they might want to buy. Most offen I give them top reviews like 5 stars most are positive reviews. This one I just cant give a positive review. (Rich, 2009-09-18) Yeah, it's got great classic NY, in their best sounding versions ever. But there's a good reason why much of the unreleased material has been unreleased -- it's largely of historical interest and not that wonderful. Sorry, NY's no Dylan when it comes to squirreling away masterpieces. But the bigger problem is as good as the music is, much of the material is next to impossible to get out of the box. I've seen some poorly fabricated box set packages (i.e., the rusting Bill Evans box) but this takes incompetent design to a new level. Which is pretty ridiculous given the prices and years of preparation. Getting the sleeves out requires turning the disc pack over and banging on the bottom to dump them all out. And after somehow fishing the book out when new, it is now completely impossible to access. After dealing with this shoddy package, do you really want to hunt for hidden track "easter eggs"? I'm so po'ed I'd rather strangle the bunny.

(Jonathan Flynn, 2009-09-02) ought this a few weeks back and i have to say i was worried it would be a bit of a dissapointment but am i glad i was wrong. Its brilliant from start to finish.
