G.I. Joe: The Movie
A 40,000-year-old race of snake people resurface, and with help of Serpentor, Desto, Baroness and Dr. Mindbender, plan to eliminate all of mankind and rebuild Cobrala. Once rulers of Earth, the Snake people were driven underground by ice-age temperatures. While in exile, they developed a plant whose spores turn ordinary men into mindless, weak animals. The key to their plan is G.I. Joe's secret project--the Broadcast Energy Emitter. Only this device generates enough heat so that the spores can mature. Humankind's very existance depends on G.I. Joe, but are they strong enough, smart enough, cunning enough to fight a warrior race with 40,000 years of experience?

(GameFAN HCGamer, 2009-10-17) Superb GI Joe movie that represents the pinnacle of Joe storytelling (outside the original comics) that is the perfect blend of Sci Fi and earth based military. Joe, Cobra, and beyond are represented and a good amount of screen time to bunches of characters makes for a perfect movie. Writing like in this movie, and Transformers The Movie (the original one with Unicron and Galvatron, you know the good one) SIMPLY JUST DOES NOT HAPPEN IN THIS DAY AND AGE ANYMORE!!! The writing proved that you could do a huge epic story with SCOPE (something writers cannot do anymore) and still make a movie that made sense and most of all.... ENTERTAINED!!! Simply one of the best movies of all time, with great voice talent (Burgess Meredith, anyone?) and an epic tale.... make this movie a must see..... too bad it's NOT AVAILABLE ANY LONGER ON DVD!!! I got my copy when it was first released on DVD.... too bad the morons in charge can't see that THIS is the real Joe movie, and not that 2009 Rise of Cobra bullcrap..... 5 stars, Simply perfect.... my highest recommendation....

It's good to have it on DVD, as now you can watch the unforgettable excitement of the goose bump-inducing opening sequence over and over without degrading the video quality. :-) Starring the voices of Don Johnson ("Miami Vice") as Lt. Falcon, Burgess Meredith ("Rocky" films and "Batman" TV series) as Golobulus, and Robert Remus (WWF/WWE) as Sgt. Slaughter. This DVD contains * 25 "And knowing is half the battle" Public Service Announcements * 2 "Theatrical" Movie trailers (although they look to be TV ads) * 2 Vintage Commercials that feature the 70's 12" G.I. Joe dolls (remember this is a Rhino release) * 5.1 Audio NOTE: Although this film was originally meant to be a theatrical release it was released straight to video in the 80's so it is not in letterbox (if such a version even exists). You get to see a version of the origins of both Cobra Commander and the Cobra Organization...and you get to see Cobra Commander's face. This marks the last story of the Sunbow 80's cartoon and some of the events were used and concluded when DiC revised the show.
