(pitbullpatti, 2009-11-11) This movie is entertaining and gives enough laughs throughout to make it bearable, but it could have used a serious dose of editing as, besides being very predictable for the most part, it just rambled on and on until you couldn't care less about any of the characters.

(Susan Bock, 2009-10-29) Hmmm. I am feeling like a voice in the wilderness. I like many things about this movie which shows different incarnations of love. What upset me is the portrayal of the schizophrenic brother of Laura Linney's character. In my opinion, he is an extreme case and the portrayal is scary. It perpetuates the stigma to the public and sends a message (so strong in visual media) of hopelessness to individuals suffering from mental illness and to their families as well, who already bear such a heavy burden. The writer could have portrayed this character as being out of the hospital, on the way to recovery, etc. It was just so disappointing, especially as so much of the film is well written.

(ConcerningTarutarus, 2009-10-24) I never got the chance or the desire to see "Love, Actually" despite the fact it's a pretty widely known movie. That changed recently when I saw a Thai film by the same director of Dorm. The movie, "Hormones", was said to be loosely influenced by "Love, Actually". Having said that, "Love, Actually" is a charming film. But it is not something I can see anybody watching at any time of the year other than Christmas. During the summer, leave it on the shelf because there is little to gain from the film other than feel-good sentiment that is often gained through calculated manipulation.

(Kregg Jorgenson, 2009-10-19) What Hollywood and maybe its English counterpart can do best is entertain us and with Richard Curtis and LOVE ACTUALLY we get moviemaking at its best; good script, great dialogue, classic performances, and a tremendous sound track. Is it a chick flick? At times, sure but it is also one a beer can bending, butt scratching, real guy can enjoy as well even if there are no explosions, chase scenes or zombies...ah, (sigh) zombies... Yeah, well Bill Nighy is hilarious as the aging rock star looking for a comeback at any price and how he plays and pays it is good stuff. This isn't a 'slice of life' movie but a 'slice of a better life' type movie and judging from the over 700 reviews here it is one that most viewers have enjoyed. Me included.

(Joseph The 43rd, 2009-10-17) This review is intended as a gesture of solidarity and commiseration to all boyfriends, husbands, significant others who were, like me, made to endure every minute of this film. It was especially bad to have caught it on commercial TV, where ads just dragged the whole thing out tortuously. The films negative traits speak for themselves and are so obvious it's redundant to point them out. Worst though is that I am forced to accept that my partner enjoyed this film, and to wonder what this implies. The one saving grace: this film is SO vacuous and imbecilic, it is entirely possible to drift off and think of other things without missing a beat. I wonder, was this revenge for the football games we have watched together? Possibly - but I never demanded she sit there through every minute. She was welcome to go read a book or whatever. No problem at all. I, not so much. The things one does for love.
