(H. Dixon, 2009-11-10) My 5 year old son just started kindergarten in a dual spanish/english immersion program. Because I don't speak Spanish myself, I wanted to give both my 5 year old and my 3 year old extra exposure to Spanish to help them transition to a Spanish immersion school program. I tried a variety of different DVDs, but this DVD and the others by Whistle Fritz are by far their favorites. They are completely in Spanish, but my kids were able follow them easily because the speaking is so carefully timed with contextual cues. They immediately picked up the obvious vocabulary words, in this case the Spanish words for many animals. But now, we've watched them so many times that they understand more of the connecting language: the expressions, verb conjugations and conversational elements. The songs and music are particularly good in this series and my kids know all the songs by heart. I'd highly recommend this for kids and adults who want to learn some Spanish.
(A. Perez, 2009-09-08) This DVD begins and stays in Spanish. It's no good if you have no knowledge of Spanish.
(Alissa A. Bails, 2009-06-08) After buying the other video by this company --- I came back to buy their other video. My daughter loves them (16 months). We are teaching her both Spanish and English so this is a great re-enforcement of the Spanish language skills. I only wish they had more. One note: 100% Spanish language so not for those looking for English and Spanish in the same video.
(La anciana, 2009-05-14) As a second language teacher, I can highly recommend this dvd Spanish for Beginners: Los Animales (Animals)for children learning Spanish. The producers have followed all the best principles of language teaching in creating this fine learning tool. It includes careful presentation of various animals and the sounds they make by an enthusiastic young lady who speaks entirely in Spanish but uses simple vocabulary aided by lots of realia. She often presents questions which are answered by cheerful young people, but can also be answered by learners at home or in a classroom. The content includes delightful simple poems and songs as well. Presently I'm using the dvd with my one-year-old twin grandchildren who are mesmerized by the content. Their attention is just an example of how delightfully entertaining the dvd is.
(Arlene, 2009-02-05) It's a very prepare dvd in Spanish, the girl in the DVD pronunces Spanish very good, very clear for kids to understand and follow her, when she is speaking in Spanish, but I rated the DVD with 2 because the DVD said "Los Animales" and I was actually looking for a DVD in Spanish where my kids can learn about the animals in Spanish, but most of them are puppets or stuff animals, no real animals so I am more interested in real animals than toys. So it will depend of what you are looking for to your kids. Good luck.
