The Star of Bethlehem
THE STAR OF BETHLEHEM FASCINATES. For millennia, believers, scoffers and the curious have wondered at the Biblical account of the Star. The Bible recounts unusual, or even impossible astronomical events at Christ's birth. For many doubters, the account of the Star is easily dismissed as myth. For many believers, it's a mystery accepted on faith. But what happens if we combine current historical scholarship, astronomical fact and an open mind? Judge for yourself...

(mc, 2009-12-06) Johannes Keplero was the man who, in the 1600s, figured out the mathematical equations for the paths the stars take, those big circles of various sizes that make That Spirograph of phenomenal beauty in the sky. Math is unforgiving, perfect and the paths the stars take are perfect and therefore predictable. Give that math to a computer and say, Map out the star paths for 4000 years, and you have software that can show you where the stars were around the birth of Jesus!!! How cool is that? Well this author, a lawyer and Christian, became fascinated by it. It appears God put in his line of vision the software, a class, disparate research projects, a scientific article and a number of other coincidental convergent events that led him to the discovery of what the Star of Bethlehem WAS. Keplero, who tried to find the Star of Bethlehem 400 years ago, couldn't find it because he was looking for the birth of Jesus in the WRONG YEAR - a dating quirk we have since unravelled. Figuring that out was a huge key the details of which are related here. Hearing this story brought alligator tears to my eyes as I watched God's hand across time orchestrating the biggest events in human history against a backdrop of beauty and grace and unbelievably obvious signs predicting them. I had to buy this so I could watch it again and again with a pause button because the Bible references about the signs in the stars are fascinating and copious. It's all there... ALL there in the Bible. I am no Scripture scholar but this was mesmerizing enough to improve my faith in the veracity and precision of the Bible a ton.
(James G. Mccann, 2009-11-17) A wonderful, thoughtful film. I found myself far more interested in the proof of the Star than I had first thought possible. A nice addition for a modern day "Thomas" Amen !
(Thomas M. Loarie, 2009-11-15) Steve McEveety's MPower Productions has produced a magnificent documentary on DVD, "The Star of Bethlehem," uncovering one of the great mysteries of the last 2000 years - was the Star of Bethlehem a myth of the early Church or was it a real event? This film details the journey of Frederick Larsen from his first moment of curiosity to his extraordinary findings - the coming and passing of Christ were both announced by the heavens. Using Starry Software, first century manuscripts, and the Bible, Larsen was able to ascertain the critical date of King Herod's death, a date that eluded previous investigators including Johannes Kepler; the nine characteristics of "The Star"; and information on the blood moon which was mentioned by St. Peter at the Pentecost. Larsen carefully shares his evidence and makes an excellent case on how the heavens announce the birth of the Messiah, mark the arrival of the Magi for the first Christmas, and mark His passing with a lunar eclipse (the Blood Moon) on the day of his crucifixion. The DVD also includes a short segment on the eclipse as seen from the moon - a solar eclipse - and its profound implications. While "The Star of Bethlehem" makes a great gift anytime of the year for Christians and non-Christians, it will be especially well received at Christmas or at Easter.

You can download a freeware version of the star program where the dates do match up. You also can see the sky as it was that night and it really solidifies the message. Most skeptics won't buy it, but I would recommend it to anyone looking at little intricacies of the scriptures.
