Someone to Watch Over Me Cusomter reviews:

Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 30

(Visa, 2009-07-23) This is my all time favorite suspense/thriller movie. Berenger is fantastic, as is the woman who plays his wife. Rogers does a fine job as the female lead. I thought scanearios like this happen all that often, but it still found it believeable.

(Janice Harrison, 2009-04-03) Tom Berenger is sensational in this romantic thriller movie from director Ridley Scott. He plays Mike Keegan, a newly promoted detective, who is given the assignment of (as the police put it)"babysitting" the witness to a brutal murder. The witness, Claire Gregory, played to the hilt by Mimi Rogers, is beautiful, classy and well-educated. She's especially upset because she's just seen a close friend get stabbed to death. These actors have real screen chemistry (it's not forced) which makes the movie work. While Mike Keegan is attracted to Claire from the minute he sees her, he tries to keep those feelings at bay and just be professional. However, the more time he spends with her, the harder that becomes. Lorraine Bracco is one tough cookie and does a wonderful job of playing a police officer's wife. The "perp", played by Andreas Katsulas, is really scary; he does a great job playing a psychopathic killer. All in all, a very talented cast, great plot with suspense and a taut feeling throughout really combine to make this an outstanding movie. When you think about it, we all need "someone to watch over us" and that movie really makes that come through.

(J. Smith, 2009-03-13) This is one of my favorite movies in that it seems to have it all. Romance, Action, Drama ... and the music is beautiful. The scenery is brethtaking. The acting is first rate and just a joy to watch.

(Avril Chapman, 2008-12-18) what i love about amazon is i can get old movies not available anywhere else. i love sydney potier and i think this is one of his top movies, after coming to dinner

(Mr. Eddie, 2008-05-27) Absolutely painful film to watch and easily Ridley Scott's worst. He obviously does not understand the thriller genre as both this and Black Rain are some of the lamest cop flicks you'll ever see. But Someone to Watch Over me gets extra credit for taking the most incredible city in the world into a swamp of cliches that defies description. It's not so much that Tom Berenger is bad or that the set-up is totally unrealistic, but more that it is so absolutely predictable and devoid of any surprises. Or is it that there seems to be no chemistry between any of the actors? Or simply, that the material is so wafer thin that the film winds up saying virtually nothing except the totally obvious regarding class distinctions? This is the film where Ridley Scott firmly earned his reputation as a shallow stylist. Ugh. Maybe if Mimi Roger's character was anything but a shallow bore as well -- for she is supposedly the magnetic awe-inspiring center of this sordid tale. And Tom Berenger has the charisma of a stale graham cracker. Whatever... it's AWFUL. This film really makes you wonder -- if you strip away all of the 70mm affects, and genre conventions of his previous efforts, if Ridley Scott really understands how to tell an original story that is not derivative or referential. It is puzzling because Alien features some great moments of tension... but maybe without the support of a monster or flying cars, or gobs of CGI he just kind of turns out to be kinda boring.
